Describe the relationship between films and their producers contexts with some appropriate use of subject terminology.
Select a contemporary remake and the original version of a film of your choice. It will be an 800 word minimum report. If you are unsure of films you would like to cover, please ask and I will give you some examples.
This is an illustrated report, you can add images to further explain your points made.
These are the bullets I would like for you to cover:
- The cultural background of the films
- Who produced and directed the two films
- Do they have any Stars?
- The budget assign to the films?
- Which country did the funding come from for both films (Hollywood, Bollywood, British, or developing countries.
- What production house made the films? to name a couple Free farm films, film and music company
- Is it an international co-production (UK working with the USA)
- Can either film be considered an 'independent" or "mainstream" film?
- Did they receive any funding from 'funding bodies' - for example BFI Film Fund, Creative England Fund. (I have added a post on funding bodies)
- What technologies were used in the production of both films?
- Who distributed the films in the UK and worldwide?
A film distributor is responsible for the marketing of a film. The distribution company is usually different from the production company. ... A distributor may do this directly, if the distributor owns the theatres or film distribution networks, or through theatrical exhibitors and other sub-distributors.
- What cinemas may have shown the films in the UK and worldwide? for example VUE, Odeon
- Do they fit into a particular genre or 'cycle' of films?
What this question means, sometimes films follow trends - such as films released more then once, it could be the specific genre is popular with the mainstream.
- What certificate did they receive in the UK, and why did they receive that certificate (PG, 12, 18 etc)
- Are they part of a series of films or sequels? (sequel is a remake of the original a series is a different story
- Who is the production company?
A production company, production house, production studio, or a production team provides the physical basis for works in the realms of the performing arts, new media art, film, television, radio, comics, interactive arts, video games, websites, and video.
- Do the production companies also distribute films or own any cinemas?
